Overview
Situated in the rolling hills and fields of rural Parke County, Indiana, the Clay Plant pottery studio and residence, envisioned by a husband-and-wife duo, is taking shape as a seamless integration of business and living spaces. Renowned for their pottery craftsmanship, the Clay Plant challenged the design team to create a setting that not only meets the expanding needs of the studio but also provides private gathering areas for the residential spaces.

Beginning with a property tour and design charrette day, the team crafted a vision that thoughtfully connects various elements, including parking solutions, outdoor entertainment spaces, native plantings, and strategic sightlines. The design encompasses distinct goals for the Pottery Studio, Residence, and Property Extents, ensuring a harmonious blend with the natural environment. Organized into Public, VIP, and Private zones, the charrette plan creates a gradient buffer between the public-facing studio and the secluded residence, incorporating features like a no-mow prairie, event parking, gated access, and personalized amenities. This nature-inspired sanctuary not only showcases the unique architecture of the site but also sets the stage for potential future elements, such as a greenhouse extension and large equipment barn.
